Frequently Asked Questions
Everything parents and students ask about ConciCollege coverage, access, and how it works.
QCan you see my student in a dorm room?
Dorm visits depend on each school’s housing access rules and residence hall entry policies. For students in private apartments or houses, in-person visits are available within ∼30 miles of downtown Chicago. We always start with telehealth to determine the safest, most appropriate next step.
QMy student goes to school downstate — can ConciCollege still help?
Absolutely. ConciCollege provides 24/7 telehealth anywhere in Illinois. While in-person visits are limited to the Chicago metro area, telehealth covers everything from strep and UTI treatment to medication management and “is this normal?” questions.
QHow is ConciCollege different from the campus health center?
Campus health centers typically operate on weekday business hours and may have long wait times. ConciCollege fills the gap — nights, weekends, holidays, and those moments when your student doesn’t want to wait three days for an appointment. We also build an ongoing relationship so they’re not starting from scratch each visit.
QWhat if my student needs a specialist near their campus?
We coordinate specialist referrals using Conciurgent Care’s network of trusted Chicago-area doctors. For orthopedic injuries, dermatology, GI issues, and more — we identify the right provider, make the introduction, and follow up to make sure your student is taken care of.
QIs in-person care included in the membership?
In-person care is available as an add-on with transparent, upfront pricing. The membership includes 24/7 telehealth, proactive check-ins, and clinical coordination. Most issues are resolved via telehealth — no ER bill required.
QMy student is studying abroad for a semester. Can they still use ConciCollege?
ConciCollege telehealth is licensed for Illinois only. However, we can provide pre-departure health guidance, medication planning, and be ready when they return. We’ll also help coordinate care with their study abroad program if needed.
QWhat about summer break and holidays? Is it year-round?
Yes! ConciCollege membership covers the full school year, including summer break, winter break, and holidays. Whether your student is on campus, at home in the Chicago area, or traveling within Illinois, they have access.
QWhy should I choose ConciCollege over a regular telemedicine app?
Telemedicine apps give you a random doctor who doesn’t know your student. ConciCollege gives you Ali and Pam — experienced clinicians who know your student by name, understand their history, and actually follow up. It’s a relationship, not a transaction.
QCan ConciCollege prescribe medications?
Yes. Our licensed clinicians can prescribe medications via telehealth and send prescriptions to any pharmacy near your student’s campus. Common prescriptions include antibiotics, anti-nausea meds, and treatments for UTIs, strep, and more.
QWhat if my student has a chronic condition like diabetes or asthma?
ConciCollege is ideal for students managing chronic conditions away from home. We provide proactive check-ins (included in membership), medication monitoring, flare-up management, and coordination with their home physicians. We don’t replace their specialist — we extend the safety net.
QHow quickly will my student hear back?
ConciCollege aims for real-time response for urgent needs. For non-urgent questions, students typically hear back within minutes to a few hours. This is not a 24-48 hour call-back service — it’s direct access to a clinician.
QIs ConciCollege covered by insurance?
ConciCollege is a direct membership — no insurance needed, no copays, no surprise bills. The membership fee covers all included telehealth services. Add-on in-person visits have transparent pricing shared upfront, and we can provide a superbill for potential reimbursement.
Not Sure If Your Student’s School Is Covered?
If your student attends any college in Illinois, they’re eligible for ConciCollege telehealth. For in-person coverage, reach out and we’ll confirm whether their area falls within our radius.
